How long have you been doing what you do and how did you get to be a Parenting and Lifestyle Coach? Our journey started over 19 years ago when we were teaching in our special education classroom prior to becoming parents ourselves. With our strong educational and behavioral background, we always thought how easy it was for us to manage our classroom. We would often hear complaints from parents on how challenging it was to get their children to listen at home. A few years later we each began to have our own children. We quickly realized what those parents were talking about. As we were both dealing with the many struggles within our own family, we were very thankful for our teaching backgrounds. But we found it wasn’t enough. We were tired of feeling alone, frustrated and lost and went back to school to become certified Parent, Health, and Life coaches. We began to see the positive changes not only in our lives but in the lives of our families. During this part of our journey, we would encounter other parents at playgroups and mommy and me classes who would always ask for parenting advice. The next class they would come up to us saying how happy they were with the results. We realized there was a great need for our service. This is what had us create High Functioning Family. We also wanted to bring it full circle and went back into schools to teach workshops to our fellow educators on various topics. We wanted to help other families and educators who are just like us, to get the awareness to create calm and peace in their home and classrooms.
Who are your clients exactly? We work with parents and educators who love and are passionate about their kids, however, they are facing unexpected challenges and are unsure of what steps to take to get to where they want to be. They are open and motivated to implement new ideas. They know when they need help and are open to getting it. They are willing to do whatever it takes to bring themselves and their children to a better place emotionally and physically.
How are you different from other "parent/life coaches? We ONLY work with parent and educators who have children who struggle with behavioral and emotional challenges and would like to have more patience and peace. What separates our service from others, as many clients have shared, is that we are down to earth and very approachable. We offer real world advice and guidance that is easy to implement. Because of our own experience as parents and educators, we relate and connect to our clients on a personal level. Our expertise in education, parenting, and health gives us the ability to understand the challenges and the unique strategies to rise above them.
I have a lot on my plate and am concerned about what is expected of me? All we ask is for you to be coachable, be open to new ideas, concepts, and plans, fulfill your commitments, pause and play sometimes, begin and end our sessions on time. We always ask our clients to reflect on where they are presently at and ask themselves if this is where they want to be a year from now. We tell our clients working with us requires a commitment but brings long lasting results.
For what type of person is this program NOT going to work? Please know I’m very selective in who I work with and I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t suited for my programs and won’t get the results for which they would have signed up for. (It wouldn’t be fair to them.) This program is not going to work for parents and educators who are looking for a magic bullet or a band-aid for their struggle. Our program takes some time and effort but in exchange for a lifetime of reward.
Does this really work? Yes, like with anything in life it requires effort, determination, and consistency. But with our proven system and your hard work, you will get results that last a lifetime. (See Client Testimonials)
What results can I expect? Our clients have decreased frustration and Increased patience. With structured routines that work, better communication and relationship with their children, our families see an overall increase in happiness. They learn to effectively recognize the difference between a meltdown and a tantrum and use the strategies to help reduce and sometimes eliminate unwanted behaviors. They learn to distinguish between emotional struggles and inappropriate behavior. Parents and Educators learn how to effectively set clear rules that can easily be followed. They stop punishing and start disciplining leaving their children with long-lasting positive effects. We help our clients to stop being stuck in a pattern that is not working. They learn how to teach their child emotional awareness and self-soothing strategies. We teach families and educators effective listening skills, how to discipline effectively and how to respond to a situation rather than react. With a mindset change and realization that what you focus on grows, parents and educator have a positive shift in all areas of their life.
How quickly can I expect results? Obviously, this depends on how much you put into the assignments that we give you. That said, virtually all clients see results within the first couple of weeks of working with us.
How will we work together? We understand parents and educators are very busy, because of this we work with our clients on the phone or via online to make it easier to schedule. We also use text and email support.
How long is the program and what is it like? We have varying programs to accommodate and meet your needs. See our coaching programs to see which one is right for you.
Do you accept credit cards? Yes, we accept all major credit cards.
OK, I know which program I want. How do we get started? Congratulations, contact us at 516.229.1744 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org

“High Functioning Family has proven to be a wonderful resource for families and our school! Margarita Daskalakis and Juarline Stavrinos are easy to speak to and very personable. They are extremely informative and well versed in Early Childhood. High Functioning family hosted workshops at the Growing Tree that provided strategies and tips for everyday frustrating situations that occur with our children. Parents were able to open up and share their own stories. It was an enriching learning experience!”
